Planning a Walking Meditative Labyrinth for Warren, RI

Labyrinth at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth

Walking a meditative labyrinth is a healthy experience.  The labyrinth holds open a space where we may be able to look inward, to think about, and maybe to rise above challenging fears.  Creating a walking meditative labyrinth speaks to who we are as neighbors caring for neighbors.

We all feel anxiety.  Some of us manage our anxiety well, but many of us suffer.  When anxiety is not part of public conversation, individuals are left with private struggles and self-medication.  A walking labyrinth – available to all – offers one way for individuals to reduce anxiety.  Meditative walking is calming, provides gentle exercise, and offers a model for healthy self-care.

Blue Skies RI hopes to bring a walking meditative labyrinth to Warren, RI.  We will be hosting community conversations about what is needed to make a walking meditative labyrinth successful.  Topics, speakers, and times and locations will be posted on local behavioral health websites and on Blue Skies’ pages.  Contact us if you are interested in working on this planning effort.
