Why Blue Skies exists
No one can truly feel the anxiety that is carried by another person, and some of us hide our anxiety extremely well. This can be a big problem because clinically relevant anxiety can go undiagnosed for years. No one can get local care for anxiety that they don’t understand.
Clinical wisdom tells us to speak with our primary care physician or psychologist. But scheduling, keeping, and paying for medical appointments is not always possible. Appropriate forms of alternative and complementary care can be more accessible, more affordable, less stigmatized, and in many cases also more effective for dealing with anxiety. Friends and family can play a major role in helping their loved ones find these resources.
Blue Skies was launched as a resource for friends and family who want to know about local resources for managing anxiety without relying on psychiatric or pharmaceutical help. A brief profile on Blue Skies operation.
What Blue Skies does
Blue Skies builds and supports friends and family who want to explore local anxiety relief opportunities together. Each month support groups will be introduced to a different local alternative care provider. The providers will briefly describe their practice and the group will discuss how that practice may or may not help their loved ones.
There are many locally available forms of alternative care to explore. Few of us will have the time to explore them on our own but together we can do so much. Here are some examples.
